How we test
Where our numbers come from, how we mark what's unconfirmed, and what happens when we get something wrong.
Every plan, provider profile, and APN guide on this site is meant to carry a “last verified” or “last reviewed” date. This page explains what that date means, and what to do when it's missing.
Plan and pricing data
A last-verified date on a plan means someone here checked that price, data allowance, or contract term against the provider's own website directly, not against a bought data feed or an old cached page. We keep this data in a version-controlled file, so every change has a commit and a date attached to it.
We're rebuilding this database through 2026, and it isn't finished. Where a plan hasn't been rechecked yet, the verification date is blank on purpose. A blank date means unverified, not wrong, and it's there so you don't have to guess which numbers to trust.
APN settings
We hold APN settings to a higher bar than a review, because a wrong value breaks someone's mobile data rather than just being a bad recommendation. Our standard is to confirm each setting against the provider's own current documentation, not a forum post or a screenshot that might be years old. If we can't confirm a setting that way, we mark it unconfirmed instead of publishing something that looks plausible.
Who writes what you read
Reviews and guides on Austele are written and edited in-house, not outsourced to a single freelance byline. Before a review goes live, we check its plan and network details against the provider's own site, and it carries a last-reviewed date so you can see how current it is.
Advertising and affiliate links
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you sign up through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you, and the link itself is marked as sponsored, not just disclosed in a footer note somewhere. Which plan or provider we put first is decided by price, data, and network fit, not by who pays for placement. Where we don't have an affiliate relationship with a provider yet, you may see a display ad in that spot instead.
Scope
We cover Australian mobile plans, providers, and APN settings. We don't currently cover NBN, home broadband, or regional coverage mapping in any depth, though that may change.
Something wrong? Tell us
If you spot an outdated price, an APN setting that doesn't work, or anything else that looks off, contact uswith the page and what you found. We'd rather fix it than leave it up.
