Aussie Broadband's mobile service rides the Optus network, so coverage is an Optus SIM's coverage. Strong across the capitals and the larger regional centres, patchier off the main highways. The company's reputation is built on its NBN service, and none of that reputation is about mobile towers.

Aussie Broadband made its name on NBN, and the mobile arm is a smaller side of the business. Four SIM-only plans on the Optus network, month-to-month, no promotional rate that doubles on you in six months. That last part is rarer than it should be.

All four are SIM-only and month-to-month. Prices confirmed on 26 August 2026 from Aussie Broadband's own SIM-only plans page, which we had to read in a browser: the site returns an empty shell to anything that doesn't run JavaScript, so automated price checks against it are unreliable by design.
The shape of the ladder is worth noticing. The entry tier is the weak one, $30 for 20GB against an Optus-network field where $25 to $30 buys 25GB to 40GB elsewhere. The top two tiers are where it gets competitive: 100GB for $50 and 180GB for $60 both hold up well.

Coverage
The mobile service runs on Optus. That means it inherits Optus's footprint exactly, with no wholesale caveat and no reduction. Whatever you think of Aussie Broadband's NBN service, it has no bearing on where your phone gets bars. The Optus network hub lists every brand on the same towers.
Southern Phone is part of the same group
Worth knowing if you're comparing the two. A site-wide banner on southernphone.com.au says its services are transferring to an entity that is part of the Aussie Broadband group. Southern Phone had also paused new SIM sales when we last looked, in August 2026, so if you landed here after finding that page unavailable, this is where its customers are heading. Southern Phone's own page has what we hold on it.
APN settings
Aussie Broadband doesn't publish APN settings, and we checked properly on 26 August 2026: its mobile help centre lists no APN article, and the one search engines still index returns a real 404. Its position is that the settings configure themselves, and that you should call support on 1300 880 905 if they don't. Our Aussie Broadband APN page carries an unconfirmed placeholder and says so. Don't treat it as sourced, because it isn't.
The honest verdict
Aussie Broadband's mobile plans are fine. Not a bargain, not a trap. What you're buying is an established operator with real support behind it, at prices we confirmed as the ongoing rates rather than an introductory term, and for a lot of people that's worth $5 a month over the cheapest name on the list.
Skip the $30 Saver tier. 20GB at that price is beaten comfortably by Dodo on the same network. If you want the Essential or Premium tiers though, the per-gigabyte maths gets genuinely good. That's the case for this one.
