This is the one thing to get right before buying Lycamobile. It is moving customers from the Telstra network to the Vodafone network in batches, and its own site has a dedicated FAQ section about the change. We record Vodafone as the destination network, which is where the service ends up, but a customer today may still be on Telstra. Ask which network your SIM will be on, because the two footprints are not close to equivalent outside the cities.

Lycamobile's prices are the story. $15 for 50GB, $20 for 120GB. Only TPG gets near that on confirmed pricing, and nothing we have on record beats the $20 plan on cost per gigabyte.
The complication is the network. Lycamobile is moving its Australian customers from the Telstra network to the Vodafone network in batches, and its own site carries a dedicated FAQ section about it. That's not a footnote. Telstra and Vodafone coverage are a long way apart outside the cities, so which one you land on materially changes what you're buying.

All four include unlimited talk and text across Australia plus unlimited international calls and texts to 35 countries, with extra minutes to 6 more. The M, SM and L plans carry data rollover up to 500GB.
Look at the SM row for a moment. $35 buys 60GB ongoing, while $20 buys 120GB. Unless there's an inclusion difference Lycamobile doesn't advertise, the M plan beats the SM plan on both price and data, and I can't construct a reason to pick SM.

The network change
Lycamobile's site has a section titled network change to the Vodafone network, describing a move of all customers from Telstra to Vodafone in batches. We record Vodafone as its network because that's the end state, and a page that said Telstra would be wrong for a growing share of customers.
What that means for you: if regional coverage is why you're shopping, don't assume the Telstra footprint you might have read about elsewhere is what you'll get. Ask before activating. APN settings
Lycamobile doesn't publish APN settings on its own site that we could find, and a site search turned up nothing official. Our Lycamobile APN page carries what we hold on record and marks it unverified. Given the network transition, this is a case where guessed values are more likely than usual to be wrong: an APN for the Telstra network won't help a SIM that has moved to Vodafone. Call 1300 854 607 if data doesn't come up.
The honest verdict
On price alone Lycamobile is hard to argue with. $20 for 120GB with international calling to 35 countries is a genuinely good deal, and the $15 tier is the cheapest confirmed 50GB plan we have on record.
What you're accepting in exchange is uncertainty. A network transition in progress, a plan range with a tier that makes no sense, and promotional data on two plans that expires. If you're in a city and you want cheap data with international calls, take the $20 plan and don't overthink it. If your coverage is marginal where you live, the network question isn't answered yet, and Kogan Mobile or Lebara give you the same Vodafone footprint without the ambiguity about which network you're on today.
